WHY WE CHOSE INSTITUTE FOR MULTISENSORY EDUCATION (IMSE)?

Our literacy instruction is grounded in evidence-based practices and the Science of Reading. Our state-certified educators and speech-language pathologists have received formal Orton-Gillingham training through the Institute for Multisensory Education, also known as IMSE.

IMSE’s mission is to transform literacy research into action by equipping educators with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to ensure that every child learns to read.

Through our IMSE-trained approach, students receive explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction in phonemic awareness, letter-sound relationships, decoding and word recognition, spelling and encoding, syllable patterns and spelling rules as well as reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.

Our instructors use IMSE instructional resources and multisensory materials to help students see, hear, say, touch, and practice new literacy concepts. Instruction is individualized according to each student’s assessment results, strengths, and areas of need.

At Sea of Sounds, we combine structured literacy instruction with our expertise in speech, language, and learning to help children become stronger, more confident readers.
